Floral Beaker - Colette Bishop
Colette is a multi-faceted designer whose interests cover surface pattern and colour: she is one of very few makers who plates her own work herself. Based in an area of Sheffield synonymous with silversmithing heritage, Colette uses traditional techniques such as chasing and repoussé, learnt from Master makers such as Rod Kelly, Peter Musgrove & Jacqueline Mina, with a fresh, contemporary approach.
This exquisite beaker with depictions of stylised botanical subjects is utterly charming, Colette’s clever use of gold plate gives the impression that the delicately chased flowers glow from within. This piece has a lightness and fragility in feel, though in reality this is a piece made to last a lifetime - it has real charm and presence.
